Race Information

Date and Time: Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 8:00 a.m.

Location: 9th/10th Street and Capitol Mall, Sacramento, CA

3-Person Relay:

  • Relay exchange zones - 1) McKinley Blvd. at Elvas Ave. and 2) M Street at 48th Street
  • Will feature three distinct categories of relay teams:  Open Teams, Credit Union Teams and Elected Officials/Staff/Family Teams.  Each category will have three distinct divisions:  Male, Female and Coed (must have at least one woman).
  • NOTE for Elected Officials/Staff/Family Teams - An elected official may sponsor a team of staff or family members, or may form a team with two other elected officials.

Course Description:

  • Starts and finishes at the spectacular California State Capitol.
  • Fast, flat, scenic 10-mile loop course through the "best of Sacramento".
  • Includes the Capitol Mall, Midtown Sacramento, McKinley Park and the Fabulous 40s.
  • Course will be closed to traffic for two hours and 30 minutes, a 15 minute-per-mile pace. Anyone proceeding slower than this pace must follow pedestrian rules, and event management cannot guarantee that finish times of these finishers will be published.

Sanction:

  • USA Track and Field
  • 2012 Pacific Association 10-Mile Championship

Rules and Guidelines for All Entrants:

  • No pets.
  • No unregistered runners, walkers or pacers.
  • Wearing of headphones, iPods or Walkman-type radios is discouraged.
  • No strollers, baby joggers, inline skates or bicycles.
  • Race services are limited to a 2:30 finish time (a 15 minute per mile pace).
  • No one other than the runner who officially registered may use the bib number and timing chip issued to that runner. Transferring and/or selling of these items is illegal.
  • Bib numbers must not be altered, should be worn on the front of the runner, and be clearly visible at all times.
  • Timing chip must be worn as follows:
    • Individual 10-mile event runners: securely attached to the top of the shoe.
    • Relay runners: on the ankle using the strap provided, no higher than six inches from the ground.

Awards:

  • All runners will receive a technical t-shirt.
  • Awards “sub-time” shirts to finishers who achieve times faster than 50 to 80 minutes in 5-minute increments (i.e. sub-50, sub-55, sub-60, etc.).
  • All runners will receive medals.
  • Custom awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners, the masters male and female winners, and to the top three finishers in the following age divisions:
    (19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-24, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and older)
  • Relay Team awards will be presented to the top three teams in each division.
  • Prize money will be distributed for the Pacific Association 10-Mile Championship and the Credit Union SACTOWN Ten-Mile Run.
  • $15,000 total prize purse
  • An awards ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on the stage near the start/finish.  Awards will be presented to the top three men and top three women during the ceremony.

Fluid Stations:

  • Water and electrolyte replenisher fluid available
  • Fluid Station 1 - 2.6 miles - McKinley Park
  • Fluid Station 2 - 4.6 miles - Elvas Boulevard at C Street
  • Fluid Station 3 - 6.6 miles - East Portal Park
  • Fluid Station 4 - 8.5 miles - N and 24th Sts

Parking Info:

  • On-Street Parking on a Sunday is free, with the exception of Old Sacramento.
  • Capitol Garage, located on 10th & L Street, offers a flat rate of $5 from 6am to 6pm.
  • Relay runners beginning from exchange 1 will not be able to park on McKinley Blvd. or on Elvas Ave. heading east, but can park on Elvas Ave. west of the McKinley/Elvas intersection, C Street or any other side street west of the McKinley/Elvas intersection (i.e. Primrose Way, 36th Way, Lupine Way)
  • Relay runners beginning from exchange 2 will not be able to park on M Street, but can park on any of the numbered streets south of M Street (toward Folsom Blvd.)

Packet Pickup:

2013 packet pickup information will be available soon.  In the meantime, below is information from the 2012 event for your reference.

  • Friday, March 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fleet Feet (2311 J Street, Sacramento).
  • Saturday, March 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Fleet Feet (2311 J Street, Sacramento)
  • Sunday, April 1 (race morning) starting at 6:30 a.m. on the West Steps of the Capitol.
